Some may want to clown on the name but the fact is everyone involved in graffiti started out at square one and at that moment they were a “toy”. GRAFF TOYZ sets out to give those eager present day “toys” a hand up with our engaging interactive products. We take great pride in the fact that every GRAFF TOYZ product and packaging is MADE AND SPRAYED IN THE USA™.
GRAFF TOYZ is the brainchild of artist/designer Jay Bellicchi. Once known as REMOTE by his peers circa 80’s and 90’s back in Boston, he currently goes by the moniker FIFTYTHREE, named after the limited edition apparel line he put out in 2003. The original seed for GRAFF TOYZ was planted in 1992 when Jay started using painter to create graffiti style lettering on a computer. The idea that street art could be used in other mediums and for different purposes stuck with Jay. It re-surfaced in the early 2000's when he was searching for cool creative toys for his son to enjoy. Jay wanted to create a product line of toys and art objects that he himself would enjoy along with his children.
Fast forward a few years. Jay completed his third stint at an educational institution, this time for web design at the Art Institute of Fort Lauderdale. While at the Art Institute Jay met Josh Hughes, a web designer and entrepreneur whom he shared the idea with. Jay went on to co-found the ALT SPACE ART GALLERY in Miami. As a result of his involvement in the art scene, the pieces started falling into place. Josh continued to grow his own business Digital Skratch® and take part in other internet ventures. Together their network of artists, designers and business associates grew and GRAFF TOYZ became a reality.
